Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of  State-Owned Enterprises  Erick Thohir announced on Thursday (31/10/2024) the establishment of a Project Management Officer (PMO) team to address high airfare prices and enhance Indonesia's tourism sector. 

The announcement was made following his meeting t with Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana to discuss cooperative strategies.

“We need a united team to provide effective solutions for airfare concerns,” Minister Erick said, stressing the need for aligned policies across ministries to tackle challenges in tourism and air travel.

The PMO team is expected to be formed within the next two weeks to begin reviewing relevant policies.

Highlighting the complexity of tourism-related issues, he called for essential regulatory change and. emphasized the importance of collaboration among ministries to achieve common goals, aiming to make air travel more affordable for both domestic and international tourists.

Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana reinforced the significance of inter-ministerial cooperation to improve access to tourist destinations. 

“We must work together to ensure ticket prices are reasonable, encouraging more domestic and international visitors to explore Indonesia's attractions,” she said, as reported by antaranews.com.
