inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has disrupted the distribution of etomidate and ecstasy drugs disguised in packages of basmati rice from India.
In the raid, which took place on Saturday (6/20/2026), investigators arrested two men, identified as T (26) and Y (29), at a boarding house in the Paseban area of Central Jakarta.
Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate, Superintendent Triyatno Pamungkas, stated that the arrests stemmed from public information regarding narcotics trafficking activity at the location.
The police team then conducted an investigation and secured the two suspects along with evidence.
At the first location, he said, officers found a cardboard box containing five packages of basmati rice and one package of curry seasoning that had been modified to store narcotics. Inside the package were 94 Etomidate cartridges bearing the "Batman" logo and 100 ecstasy pills.
"Furthermore, four mobile phones and IDR 700,000 in cash were also seized, suspected of being linked to drug trafficking," he said on Thursday (6/25/2026).
He added that initial investigations of the two suspects led officers to an apartment in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. At the second location, investigators recovered two more ecstasy pills, suspected of being linked to the same trafficking network.
"The suspected perpetrators' modus operandi was to send the drugs via courier from Medan to Jakarta, disguised as Indian rice. We have information that the perpetrators are connected to a network originating in Malaysia," he explained.
The two suspects and the evidence have been taken to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate for further investigation.
