inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, says that extreme poverty have declined in 2025.
"Extreme poverty has successfully been reduced from 1.26 percent in March 2024 to 0.78 percent in September 2025. Approximately 0.48 percent of the extremely poor population has moved up a class," said Muhaimin on Monday (4/27/2026).
He said this success confirms the government's commitment to accelerating extreme poverty alleviation by strengthening cross-ministerial and regional government orchestration.
This step is part of the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's directives and Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025 concerning Poverty Alleviation and the Elimination of Extreme Poverty.
Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025 mandates the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment as the coordinator leading the achievement of this target.
A total of 47 ministries and institutions, as well as all regional governments, are included in the Presidential Instruction. The Coordinating Minister for PM acknowledged that several challenges remain that need to be addressed immediately.
"More than 774,000 families in the decile 1 group have not yet been reached by programs, especially in areas such as Kulonprogo, Garut, Bogor, Cirebon, and Cianjur," said the Coordinating Minister.
Furthermore, 8.1 percent of families have not yet received assistance, and 60.2 percent of decile 1 families have only received one or two programs.
