Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport SUb-regional Police have uncovered a major employment scam involving fake recruitment of pilots, with losses reported at more than Rp1.3 billion. 

Soekarnot Hatta Airport Police Chief Senior Superintendent Ronald Sipayung said the suspect, identified by the initials RTI, has been arrested.

“The suspect gained over Rp 1.3 billion from several victims, and the number of victims will likely increase as we continue the investigation,” he told reporters on Monday (17/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

The case surfaced after a victim, identified as ENA, sought information about pilot vacancies and was referred to the suspect, who claimed to have access to recruitment slots in a commercial airline. Suspect RTI allegedly promised guaranteed acceptance in exchange for a Rp 550 million payment, which the victim transferred in eight separate transactions between September and October 2024. After receiving the full amount, the suspect delayed the promised three-month process and failed to provide any updates.

Police have since received additional reports, including losses of Rp 35 million and Rp 800 million. 

Suspect RTI is charged under Articles 378 and 372 of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum sentence of four years.
