Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar.  Bali Regional Police have issued a firm warning prohibiting unskilled foreign nationals from riding motorbikes independently, citing rising accident risks involving tourists on the island.

The directive was announced by the Bali Police Traffic Directorate during the launch of Operation Zebra Agung 2025 in Denpasar on Monday (17/11/2025).

“Foreigners who cannot or are not skilled in operating motor vehicles, especially two-wheelers, are advised not to ride motorcycles on their own,” said Traffic Director Senior Superintendent Turmudi, as cited by antaranews.com.

He said that the measure aims to protect both foreign visitors and local road users, while also preventing losses for motorbike rental operators. Tourists lacking riding skills are encouraged to hire motorcycles with trained riders to avoid accidents.

In 2024, Bali Police recorded 142 traffic accidents involving foreign nationals, a 35 percent increase from 2023. The incidents resulted in 21 deaths, three serious injuries, 171 minor injuries, and Rp211 million in material losses. WhileChief  Turmudi did not disclose figures for 2025, he confirmed that cases involving foreign riders have slightly declined this year.
