Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that unspent budgets from government ministries and agencies could be reallocated to pay down the national debt.
Speaking after the “One Year of Prabowo–Gibran: Optimism for 8% Economic Growth” event in Jakarta on Thursday (16/10/2025), he emphasized the need for efficiency in budget absorption.
“If they can’t absorb their budgets, I’ll move the allocation elsewhere or use it to reduce or pay off debt,” Minister Purbaya said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He clarified that the measure was not meant to target specific ministries but to encourage faster spending within the remaining weeks of October.
The Ministry of Finance previously revealed that several top-budget ministries, including the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Agriculture, had recorded spending below 50%.
According to Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, overall spending for major ministries reached 63.1% of their total allocation by the end of September 2025.
