inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) considers efforts to monitor the food safety of school snacks to be a crucial part of supporting the success of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) and creating a healthy generation towards 2045 Golden Indonesia.

Agus Yudis Pradana, Director of Community Empowerment and Processed Food Business Actors at BPOM, stated that food safety is not only the responsibility of the government, but also of all elements of society.

"Food safety is not just the responsibility of a few individuals, not just the responsibility of the health service or BPOM, but the responsibility of all of us," said Agus while attending the launch of the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) record-breaking simultaneous food safety testing for school snacks with the largest number of samples held by the Saka POM Gorontalo on Tuesday (6/9/2026).

He stated that the initiative, involving Saka POM members, represents a concrete action to build a culture of food safety from school age through collaboration between various parties.

Agus explained that food safety is an inseparable aspect of efforts to meet the community's nutritional needs as it must be guaranteed safe for consumption.

"BPOM has a motto: 'It's not food if it's not safe.' No matter how good the nutritional content, if safety isn't maintained, the food can actually become a source of health problems," noted  Agus.

According to him, monitoring school snacks is also in line with efforts to support the success of the MBG program, one of the government's priority programs.

He stated that the various cases of food poisoning that continue to occur in several regions demonstrate the importance of increasing public awareness of food safety.

Therefore, BPOM continues to encourage the involvement of local governments, schools, businesses, academics, the media, and the community in creating a culture of sustainable food safety.
