Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to strengthen the protection system for Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad as one of the diplomatic priorities during President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration.
"Over the last nine years, WNI protection has consistently been a top priority in foreign policy, marked by a significant shift in thinking and service paradigms," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Monday (8/1/2024).
She emphasized continuous efforts to enhance legal instruments for WNI protection through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, resulting in a strengthened protection system. This includes the Indonesian Seafarer Corner for crew members in Cape Town, Montevideo, and Kaohsiung.
Additionally, efforts also extend to reinforcing the legal team in countries with a high WNI concentration, developing contingency plans in conflict-prone regions, and prioritizing WNI protection curriculum in diplomatic education.
"The Ministry has also introduced several digital innovations for WNI protection, such as implementing the SMS Blast system, the Care for WNI Portal, and the mobile application Safe Travel," she concluded.
