Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang.  Four people died when a Toyota Fortuner car plunged into a ravine on the Wonosobo-Batang road in Bawang District, Batang Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday (6/8/2024).

Central Java Regional Police Traffic Director Senior Superintendent Sonny Irawan said that the accident involving the Fortuner occurred around 3 pm local time.

The vehicle veered off the road and fell into the ravine, likely due to brake failure. The incident happened on a steep section known as Krakalan, according to antaranews.com.

Authorities who responded to the accident have evacuated the victims, consisting of one man and three women, who were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The victims have been identified as Rumi Januar (50) and Suljah Terawati (52) from Koja, North Jakarta; Mida (59) from Cilincing, North Jakarta; and Ari Kusmayati (49) from Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
