Inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan.  The Mahakam Nusantara Operation Task Force from East Kalimantan Regional Police intensified routine patrols in the new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) , as the country approaches its 79th Independence Day later this month.

“We’re enhancing security to ensure the safety and smooth progress of IKN’s development, especially in preparation for Independence Day celebrations,” said Senior Superintendent Yulianto, the East Kalimantan Police Head of Public Relations, on Tuesday (6/8/2024).

Routine patrols by the Mahakam Nusantara Operation Task Force aim to maintain security and public order amid the accelerating IKN development. Patrols also focus on preventing threats like theft, vandalism, and more serious risks, as reported by antaranews.com.

Despite comprehensive security measures, challenges persist due to the vast IKN construction area and evolving social dynamics. Increased traffic volume in IKN and East Kalimantan has led to congestion. To address this, the police have developed strategies to ease traffic, especially during peak hours and Independence Day.

Extensive training has been conducted to prepare personnel for their security duties, particularly in escorting high-ranking officials.
