Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s U-23 national football team suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat to India U-23 in their first international friendly match at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, on Friday night (10/10/2025).
The home side struggled early as India’s Suhail Ahmed struck twice in the first half to put the visitors ahead 2-0.
“Our players showed strong effort, especially in the second half, but we must improve our finishing and decision-making in the final third,” said Indonesia’s head coach Indra Sjafri after the match, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Indonesia managed to respond before halftime through a precise shot from Dony Tri Pamungkas, reducing the deficit to 1-2. Despite tactical changes and heavy pressure in the second half, Garuda Muda failed to find an equalizer as several chances went begging.
The two sides will meet again on Monday for their second encounter, with Indonesia expected to make key adjustments in attack and passing accuracy.
