"The early retirement process is in accordance with Law No. 3/2025 on the TNI, which requires active-duty officers to retire before taking civil posts outside 14 permitted ministries," said TNI spokesperson Major General Kristomei Sianturi on Wednesday (9/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He emphasized that General Rizal’s appointment reflects government trust and TNI’s support for national food security through strategic logistics.
According to Chief Kristomei, his selection followed legal procedures, as such placements must be requested by the relevant institution. The Ministry of State-owned Entrprises (SOEs) officially appointed General Rizal through Decree No. SK 192/MBU/07/2025 on 3 July 2025.
SOEs Minister Erick Thohir confirmed his appointment following the return of his predecessor, Lieutenant General Novi Helmy Prasetya, to military duty.
