Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced a 50% electricity tariff discount for PT PLN (Persero) household customers with capacities up to 2,200 VA from January to February 2025.

The program will benefit 81.42 million users, according to antaranews.com.

“This initiative aims to safeguard purchasing power and enhance public welfare as part of an economic stimulus package,” said Director General of Electricity Jisman P. Hutajulu in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/12/2024).

The discount applies automatically to postpaid customers for January and February usage, reflected in bills for February and March. Prepaid users will receive the discount when purchasing electricity tokens during the program period, effectively halving token prices compared to the previous month.

Households with capacities of 450 VA, 900 VA, 1,300 VA, and 2,200 VA qualify. However, customers with capacities between 3,500 and 6,600 VA remain subject to the new 12% VAT rate.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani noted the discount offsets the VAT increase and encourages efficient energy use. PT PLN is tasked with maintaining service quality and operational efficiency throughout the program.
