Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Cesium-137 Task Force has completed decontamination of 22 factories and removed 558.8 tons of contaminated material from the Modern Industrial Zone in Cikande, Serang, Banten, authorities confirmed Thursday (30/10/2025).
“To protect public health and safety, decontamination outside factories, especially in red zones including residential areas and landfills, iss being carried out intensively,” said Rasio Ridho Sani, the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control at the Ministry of Environment, who also leads the task force’s mitigation and contamination management division.
The contaminated sites were cleaned by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the National Nuclear Agency (Bapeten) supervised the police and military hazardous units. Operations at the cleared factories may soon resume.
The contamination was traced to radioactive slag used as landfilling material. Of 12 red-zone sites, five have been fully cleaned, with seven still under process.
Over 36,700 vehicles were scanned for radiation, and none tested positive since 17 October 2025, indicating a drop in airborne Cesium-137 spread.
