Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government announced sweeping reforms to strengthen governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program following mass food poisoning incidents, with child safety placed at the forefront.
“I want to stress how serious the President’s attention is to this issue. Under his directive, we acted swiftly. Children’s safety is our top priority, this is not just about numbers, but the future generation,” Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said Sunday (28/9/20250), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Measures include temporary closure and investigation of Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) kitchens deemed problematic, nationwide evaluation of kitchen staff discipline and quality, and stricter sanitation standards covering water and waste management.
The government will also require all SPPG kitchens to hold a Hygiene and Sanitation Eligibility Certificate (SHLS), previously only an administrative formality. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin confirmed the certification process will be expedited within one month in cooperation with the National Nutrition Agency.
