inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stated that the government continues to maintain the stability of subsidized fuel prices, ensuring they remain affordable for the public.
Vice President Gibran expressed his appreciation for the proposal to raise fuel prices, although he responded by stating that it was inconsistent with President Prabowo Subianto's directives.
"This is inconsistent with President Prabowo's directives, who clearly and firmly instructed his staff to maintain the stability of subsidized fuel prices to ensure they remain affordable for the lower classes," said Vice President Gibran on Thursday (4/9/2026).
"The government is committed to implementing efficiency measures and budget refocusing to protect lower-income communities from being burdened by the ripple effects of fuel price increases, such as increases in staple food prices, transportation costs, and other costs," he continued.
Furthermore, Gibran explained that the government is currently pushing to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and other renewable energy sources.
One example is President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Magelang, Central Java, to inaugurate an electric vehicle assembly plant. This demonstrates the government's commitment to promoting the use of electric vehicles.
