inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta. The Greater Jakarta metropolitan Regional Police and the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) held a meeting on the operation of special lane of road bike. The meeting will also evaluate the trial of the special lane, including opening other options to make the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta as special route for road bikes.

"Is the flyover (JLNT Casablanca) suitable or not or can it be used as place for road bikes? Or maybe we find another place, whether in Kemayoran or somewhere. This is what we will evaluate together," the Traffic Security Director of Greater Jakarta Metro Regional Police explained.

He also his team was also reviewing the discourse to give ticket for road bike cyclists who crossed outside the lane. He said his team had legal basis for carrying out the action.

Regarding ticketing mechanism to the road bike cyclist, police is now reviewing the technical aspect. However, he said the action against cyclist who violated must be immediately formulated to prevent conflict between motor rider and cyclist.

"To enforce the law on bicycle users, there is a basis, namely Article 299 of the Law on Traffic and Road Transportation. It is stated that non-motorized vehicles are required to use the lane that has been prepared  and regulated in Article 122 of the Law on Traffic and Road Transportation. This is a problem. It's urgent because I'm afraid that if this is left unmanaged, there will always be conflict between motor riders and cyclists, especially road bikes. Moreover, there are already bicycle lanes prepared by the government, particularly on the Sudirman-Thamrin street," he explained.

In the last few days, road bike cyclists who pass outside the bicycle lane have indeed caused pros and cons in the community. The actions of road bikers who pass outside the bicycle lane have sparked a debate between motorists and cyclists.

Even though a special lane has been provided, road bikers are still being monitored outside JLNT Casablanca. Several uploads on social media show a road biker convoy crossing the Sudirman-Thamrin route.

This action caused polemics and protests in the community. One of them ended up going viral on social media showed a photo of an AA plate motorist pointing out his middle finger at a road bike cyclist passing on the right lane of Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.
