Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Gegana Detachment of the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) launched a critical rescue operation in West Jakarta on Thursday (29/1/206) to evacuate residents trapped by rising floodwaters.

Deploying rubber boats through submerged alleys in Cengkareng, SAR teams prioritized the elderly and sick as heavy rainfall turned residential zones into inaccessible catchments.

"Every potential threat to public safety is a serious concern, and our presence serves to provide immediate protection and service," said Brimob Commander, Senior Superintendent Henik Maryanto, as cited by antaranews.com.

During the mission, tactical units successfully extracted a resident requiring urgent medical attention from the Kedaung Kali Angke area, navigating high water levels to reach a nearby clinic.

Beyond water rescues, police are managing gridlocked traffic and deploying field kitchens for displaced families. Authorities urge the public to utilize the 110 emergency hotline for rapid assistance as flood mitigation efforts continue across the capital.
