Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Hashim S Djojohadikusumo, the businessman and brother of President Prabowo Subianto, thanked Sasakawa Peace Foundation Chair Tohei Sasakawa for playing a key role in securing the release of Indonesian influencer Arnold Putra from Myanmar.
“Through an introduction I facilitated between Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Mr. Sasakawa, who has close ties with Myanmar’s military leadership, a peaceful and dignified resolution became possible,” he said in a press release on Wednesday (23/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Following the meeting, Sasakawa flew to Myanmar and held discussions with senior military officials, ultimately leading to Arnold’s release.
“The Indonesian people are grateful to Mr. Sasakawa, a respected Japanese philanthropist, for his cross-border empathy and solidarity,” Hashim added.
Arnold had been detained in Myanmar since December 2024 for allegedly entering illegally and contacting armed groups deemed illegal by Myanmar authorities. He was sentenced to seven years in Insein Prison under immigration, anti-terrorism, and unlawful association laws.
