The Indonesian National Police (INP) Food Task Force monitors and check the availability and distribution of rice stocks in effort to maintain its price and stocks. “What we did was monitor the situation in the upstream by ensuring the rice farmers face no issue in producing the stocks,” said the Head of INP Food Task Force, Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan in his written statement on Monday (2/15/2024). In the downstream level, Whisnu also monitor the situation to ensure nothing complicated that could halt the distribution the rice to the people occured. Afterwards, Whisu told there will be also routine monitoring by the task force and related stakeholders to rice warehouse. “This to ensure the rice stocks are not piling up in the warehouse and to prevent any irresponsible actions from criminals,” said Whisnu. Whisnu said that if rice price rocketed in several regions, it could be caused by extreme weather, increase in production cost, limited land and water which resulted the production of rice declining.
