Head of Traffic Corps of Indonesia National Police, Police Inspector General Istiono, stated that around 70,000 vehicles are turned around during three days of insulation effort of the 2021 Ketupat Operation. "Nationally, the situation of traffic security, safety, and smoothness are going safe and smooth," said the Head of Traffic Corps of Indonesia National Police on Saturday night (9/5/2021). Head of Traffic Corps explains that police has turned around more than 70,000 vehicles ineligible for travelling or indicated to conduct homecoming during the last three days. Those amounts are collected from 381 insulation points spread across Sumatra island to Bali island. "During those three days, we turned around 70,000 vehicles. Generally, the operation went safely and smoothly," Head of Traffic Corps said. Furthermore, Police Inspector General Istiono also added the decreasing volume of vehicles pouring out from Jakarta, either bound for Central/East Java or Sumatra. Goods and logistics now dominate the vehicles exiting Jakarta. "At the moment, vehicle's flow volume towards (Central/Eastern) Java has decreased about 73%. The ones bound for Bandung in West Java are decreased up to 78.3%," the two-star general said. Then, the volumes of the vehicles bound for Sumatra island are decreased up to 43.3% and dominated by goods and logistics. The turned around vehicles for ineligible travel today reached 10,689 units. Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Chief of Police, Police Inspector General Fadil Imran, who also visits the insulation post on Kilometre 31 of Western Cikarang toll gate, stated that in the jurisdiction of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, 6,500 vehicles are turned around because they indicated to do the homecoming tradition. Those amounts are gathered both from arterial and toll road. "For the area under the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police jurisdiction, about 6,500 vehicles are turned around to Jakarta, with 3,585 of them are turned around at the toll road. The remainings are turned around at the arterial road, either two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles," Chief of Regional Police said. That Former Chief of East Java Regional Police also persuades the public to refrain from homecoming tradition, obeying the government's policy. The aim of homecoming prohibition during the period of 6th to 17th of May is to push back the Covid-19 spread. "It is an undoubtedly uneasy thing to do, but this is the best effort to break the Covid-19 transmission. We must participate together to refrain ourselves so that the pandemic could be eradicated," he concluded.
