inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has asked regional governments to be vigilant against rising food prices, particularly primary commodities, which have the potential to trigger inflation.
Minister Tito explained that national inflation in July 2025, year-on-year (yoy), was recorded at 2.37 percent, with monthly inflation of 0.3 percent. This figure is higher than the previous month's 1.87 percent, but remains within the ideal range of 1.5 to 3.5 percent.
"A minimum of 1.5 percent, a maximum of 3.5 percent, is ideal. Ideal for satisfying producers, farmers, fishermen, factories, and consumers and the general public," said the Minister of Home Affairs on Tuesday (8/12/2025).
The increase in inflation was primarily influenced by the food, beverage, and tobacco group, which experienced inflation of 3.75 percent, with the largest contribution at 1.08 percent. Some commodities of concern include rice, shallots, red chilies, and chicken eggs.
"This means we must be careful, as food and beverages contributed significantly to the increase in inflation, from 1.87 percent to 2.37 percent," he stressed.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs has a special desk that monitors regional inflation control reports through the inspectorate. Some regions have implemented control measures, but others have not.
"If nothing has been done, we will intervene," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
