inp.polri.go.id - East Lampung. The International Association of Women Police (IAWP) today announced that Superintendent Heti Patmawati, Chief of Police of East Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, has been selected as the winner of the 2026 IAWP Leadership Award, in recognition of her principled and resilient leadership.
The IAWP is a global professional organization dedicated to strengthening, uniting, and advancing women in the police force.
“Superintendent Heti Patmawati embodies the values espoused by the IAWP Leadership Award: calm and courageous leadership; a commitment to integrity; and a relentless focus on service to the community,” said Julia Jaeger, President of IAWP.
Julia continued that “her work in complex operational environments, combined with her dedication to developing others and advancing a victim-centered approach to policing, is an inspiration to women in policing worldwide.”
In her speech, Patmawati expressed that she is honored to receive the IAWP Leadership Award. This award reflects the collective strength and commitment of all those she has had the privilege of working with.
She also expresses her deepest gratitude to her superiors and mentors, whose guidance has shaped her journey.
"Leadership, for me, is about service, integrity, and empowering others—especially women in policing—to step forward, lead with confidence, and make a real impact in our communities. I believe there are many Indonesian policewomen who are equally, if not more, deserving of this recognition, and I share this honor with them," Patmawati said in her remarks.
Heti Patmawati serves as Chief of Police in one of the most challenging areas in Lampung Province. Leading a vast and diverse region with 23 sectors and over 800 personnel, she demonstrates clarity of command, decisive decision-making under pressure, and the ability to motivate teams in high-stakes situations that strengthen public trust and organizational performance.
Women in policing from across Indonesia and the world will gather in Bali on September 20, 2026 to celebrate the award recipients and participate in the 63rd Annual Training Conference.
