Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali has moved to strengthen bilateral and military cooperation with Russia’s armed forces, following a meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“This courtesy visit took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the strong ties between the navies of both countries,” said Navy spokesperson Rear Admiral Tunggul on Wednesday (24/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Admiral Ali praised the long-standing defense relations between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the naval sector, highlighting shared interests in maritime security and regional stability. The two sides discussed opportunities for deeper collaboration in naval defense, joint initiatives, and maritime capacity-building.
According to the Navy, the talks underscored a mutual commitment to expand cooperation and reinforce strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. Officials expressed hope that stronger ties between Indonesia and Russia would enhance not only bilateral defense links but also broader maritime security.
