Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung said on Wednesday (24/9/2025) that Jakarta remains Indonesia’s capital city despite President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to designate the new capital, Ibukota Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan, as the nation’s “Political Capital” by 2028.

The change is outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 79 of 2025 on the Updated Government Work Plan.

“With the term political capital, the meaning can vary. The relocation of government functions will not be carried out entirely in 2028,” Governor Pramono said during a National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) class visit to Jakarta City Hal, as reported by antaranews.com.

He noted that while executive, legislative, and judicial bodies are expected to move to Nusantara, Jakarta will continue to serve as the center for business and major government administration.

Governor Pramono added that Jakarta will transform into a global city while preserving its Betawi cultural identity.
