Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesia’s state-run fuel distributor PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed that the country’s fuel supply remains secure despite Iran’s move to potentially close the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions with Israel.

“For now, fuel stock is stable,” said Heppy Wulansari, the Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, on Monday (23/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has also assured that Indonesia’s crude oil reserves are sufficient. The company is preparing alternative shipping routes via Oman and India to mitigate the impact of a potential Hormuz blockade, which channels about 20% of the world’s oil shipments.

The Iranian Parliament recently approved a proposal to shut the key maritime route following deadly military exchanges with Israel and subsequent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is currently assessing potential increases in operational costs should the shipping routes be diverted. The Indonesian government has not reported any immediate disruptions in energy distribution.
