Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia is set to deepen collaboration with Turkiye in the battery industry, ranging from joint research to investment and technology transfer, according to Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.
“Indonesia is ready to support collaboration with Turkiye in the battery sector, whether through joint research, investment, or technology transfer, so regional supply chains become stronger and more competitive,” He said Tuesday (23/9/2025), following his visit to Turkish battery technology company Aspilsan at the Teknofest Aerospace and Technology Festival in Istanbul.
The partnership is critical as Indonesia ramps up its electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, with battery demand soaring amid a surge in EV units from 116,000 in 2023 to 207,000 in 2024, according to antaranews.com
Aspilsan’s annual lithium-ion battery production of 21.6 million units could significantly strengthen Indonesia’s domestic supply chain. Teknofest also showcased R&D innovations, inspiring young Indonesian researchers to contribute to national technological advancement.
