inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said that trademark registration in Indonesia can be completed in a maximum of six months, faster than the United States (US), China, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.

"Indonesia has been on par with other developed countries in terms of trademark registration time. The US and China are around 12 months, South Korea is seven months, Japan is four to seven months, and Singapore is around nine months," Supratman said, quoted by Antaranews, Jakarta, Sunday (5/18/2025).

According to him, currently there are no more trademark registration arrears and the Ministry of Law has met the target service time of a maximum of six months. Therefore, he said that Indonesia is not lagging behind other developed countries.

In addition to the time period, the cost of registering a trademark in Indonesia is also cheaper compared to these countries. Indonesia charges IDR 1.8 million for general applicants and IDR 500 thousand for MSMEs, while the US charges IDR 8.2 million, Japan IDR 4.7 million, Singapore IDR 4.6 million, China IDR 4.4 million, and South Korea IDR 2.3 million.

In the field of trademark registration, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has adjusted the work pattern of trademark examiners with a flexible working arrangement system that provides flexibility in time and place of work for employees.

This work pattern, said Supratman, has recorded a positive trend with the completion of all trademark arrears, so that there are no more arrears at this time.

"The use of digital technology has had a very big influence on the overall services at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, including trademark registration. The service process has become easier, and the public can access services remotely. This increases the level of public trust in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," said Supratman.
