inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of the family in order to produce a strong and competitive generation in the future.
She emphasized that this must be a priority in government policy.
"The role of the family in producing a healthy and educated generation is very important. So that efforts to empower families are not merely the responsibility of individuals, but must also be the concern of all related parties," said Lestari in her statement in Jakarta, Sunday (5/18/2025).
Data from the Women's and Life Sources Group (KPS2K) revealed that there is still a significant gap in realizing women's empowerment and child protection, even though various programs have been implemented.
In reality, the gap between the commitment and implementation of women's empowerment and child protection still occurs.
Based on data from the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (Simfoni-PPA) of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, the number of cases of violence reported until August 2024 was 18,192 cases with a total of 15,794 victims, predominantly women.
Of the number of cases reported, 11,195 cases occurred in the household environment.
Based on these records, said Lestari, the family, which should be a safe place to empower all its members, is still vulnerable to violence and discrimination.
Stakeholders must be able to ensure that a family must be able to produce a healthy, strong-character, and educated generation.
She believes that if every family can be empowered in the economic, education, and health sectors, the opportunity to produce a competitive next generation will be even greater.
Lestari really hopes that the government can prioritize and realize programs that can truly answer the needs of family empowerment, so that it can accelerate the process of developing better national human resources in the future.
