inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni stated that Indonesia is ready to become a leader in forest-based climate solutions at the global level.

The Minister emphasized Indonesia's commitment to leading the global transition from climate ambition to concrete implementation by strengthening forest governance, developing high-integrity carbon markets, and innovating conservation financing.

"Indonesia not only wants to be part of the global transition to a low-carbon economy, but also to lead this transformation through credible, nature-based climate solutions that have integrity and provide real benefits to the community," Raja Juli explained on Friday (6/26/2026).

He said that Indonesia has demonstrated real progress in forest management and climate action.

One important achievement is the successful reduction in the area of forest and land fires from 2.61 million hectares in 2015 to around 359,000 hectares in 2025 through strengthened prevention, integrated monitoring, peat management, field operations, and consistent law enforcement.

In addition, the Social Forestry program has granted communities management access to more than 8.3 million hectares, benefiting approximately 1.4 million families.

The recognition of customary forests continues to be accelerated as part of strengthening the role of communities in forest conservation.

To support Indonesia's Forest and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030, Indonesia continues to strengthen carbon market governance through Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 and Ministerial Regulations No. 6 and 7 of 2026, which provide regulatory certainty for carbon activities in the forestry sector.

"On July 6, our ministry will issue approvals and facilitate the issuance of forestry carbon credits with a volume exceeding 30 million tons of CO2e," explained Raja Juli.

Furthermore, Raja Juli also introduced various innovative Indonesian initiatives in conservation financing, including the establishment of the National Park Innovative Financing Task Force through Presidential Decree Number 8 of 2026.

The task force is developing various innovative financing instruments, such as carbon financing, biodiversity credits, ecosystem restoration investment, sustainable nature tourism, and blended finance, to support the management of Indonesia's 57 national parks.
