Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. Indonesia welcomed 8.5 million foreign tourists as of July 2025, marking a 10 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to the Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana.
The minister highlighted the figures as evidence of a strong recovery for the country’s tourism sector.
“In 2024, Indonesia received 13.9 million international visitors, a 19 percent rise from the previous year. By July 2025, we had already recorded 8.5 million, reflecting 10 percent growth year-on-year,” Tourism Minister Widiyanti said over the weekend, as reported by antaranews.com.
She noted that domestic travel also surged, with more than 1 billion trips recorded in 2024 and a 19.25 percent increase up to July 2025. She stressed that the future of tourism goes beyond numbers, emphasizing quality experiences, cultural and environmental preservation, and ensuring benefits for local communities.
