Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo announced on Saturday (16/5/2026) that Indonesia is strengthening its position as a leading global supplier of legal and sustainable forest products.
This market expansion targets growing U.S. demand for sustainable supply chains.
"Indonesia is the first country in the world to implement a mandatory national timber legality system through SVLK+," Ambassador Indroyono said during an international webinar hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C, as reported by antaranews.com.
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni added that over 70 percent of Indonesian plywood exports to the U.S. are certified, traceable, and fully verified.
To bolster market confidence, the ministry has aligned the SVLK+ system with global regulations like the U.S. Lacey Act. Driven by strategic partnerships, Indonesia's wood product exports to the United States reached approximately $1.94 billion in 2025, accounting for 15 percent of its global forestry exports.
