Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., aiming to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
"This is great news for Indonesia’s economy, its businesses, and its workers. We’re grateful to the U.S. Chamber and CIPE for supporting Kadin’s capacity-building efforts, including our bid to join the OECD," said Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie on Saturday (3/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The two-year MoU seeks to reduce trade barriers and unlock growth opportunities in the Indo-Pacific.
Anindya emphasized the deal’s potential to expand labor-intensive industries such as footwear, electronics, and garments, which currently employ over 2.1 million workers.
The partnership also opens greater U.S. market access for Indonesian exporters and could attract more U.S. investment. U.S. Chamber executive John Murphy reiterated the importance of deepening ties, calling Indonesia a high-priority market.
