Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Army has so far established 105 Territorial Combat Battalions (YTP) across various regions to strengthen national defense, particularly in border and conflict-prone areas, said Army Spokesperson Colonel Donny Pramono on Saturday (1/11/2025).
“At present, there are 105 Territorial Combat Battalions. Next year, we plan to build more on Army-owned land,” he told antaranews.com.
Beyond defense, the units also support local economic development by helping open agricultural land and build infrastructure. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s defense concept of Optimum Essential Force (OEF), which guides force expansion under the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
Chief Donny said the Army aims to establish 750 battalions by 2029, with the process carried out in stages and coordinated among the Ministry of Defense, local administration, the Ministry of Agrarian, and state forestry company PT Perhutani.
Earlier, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs confirmed that strengthening all three branches of the military forms part of the OEF roadmap.
