Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia is entering the peak of the rainy season from November 2025 to February 2026, with a high risk of floods and landslides, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned on Saturday (1/11/2025).
“The peak of the rainy season begins this November and will last until February. The potential for extreme rainfall is increasing, so vigilance is crucial in disaster-prone areas,” said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati during a press briefing in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Java, western part of Sumatra, and central part of Kalimantan between December and January, while Bali, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and West Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will see their peak between January and February 2026.
Dwikorita said atmospheric instability, the strengthening Asian monsoon, and warmer sea surface temperatures, up to three degrees Celsius above normal, are driving the intensified rainfall.
BMKG urged local administrations and residents, particularly in flood- and landslide-prone regions, to remain alert to extreme weather in the coming months.
