The Indonesian Army is committed to strengthening its defense partnership with the Singapore Army to enhance regional stability and security during a high-level meeting between Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, and Singaporean Chief of Army Major General Cai Dexian, at the Army Headquarters in Jakarta on Monday.
"The relationship between the Indonesian Army and the Singapore Army has been very well-established and constructive. This is part of our contribution to maintaining stability and security in the region," Chief Maruli said in a press release issued Tuesday (5/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The meeting focused on several strategic military cooperation initiatives, including joint training exercises, military education programs to increase soldier capacity, and the exchange of tactical knowledge and experience. Chief Maruli also emphasized his intent to continue and expand successful collaborations that have been established in previous years.
To mark the significance of the bilateral ties, he awarded the Bintang Kartika Eka Paksi Utama, whichi is the Indonesian Army’s highest honor for foreign military figures, to General Cai Dexian. The award recognizes his significant contributions to building a strong friendship and professional cooperation between the two land forces.
