Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Madrid confirmed on Saturday (2/11/2024) that no Indonesian citizens in Spain have been affected by the recent floods in Valencia, where heavy rains since 29 October 2024 have caused widespread damage.
The confirmation came after coordinating with local authorities and reaching out to the Indonesian community in Valencia, home to around 200 Indonesians, according to antaranews.com.
“We have issued advisories for Indonesians to stay vigilant and avoid affected areas in case of further flooding,” said Judha Nugraha, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director of the Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities.
The Embassy also provided an emergency hotline, +34 619 31 23 80, for any Indonesians requiring urgent assistance.
Spain has deployed over 1,500 soldiers to assist with relief efforts as more than 60 main roads remain closed. Valencia authorities declared a red alert, and a three-day mourning period has been observed to honor the victims, with at least 200 fatalities confirmed so far.
