Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) announced on Saturday (2/11/2024) that they have uncovered 300 cases of online gambling, leading to the arrest of 370 suspects between 15 June and 1 November 2024.
The INP Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, shared that the crackdown also resulted in the seizure of 357 phones, 572 laptops, 278 bank accounts, 34 gambling accounts, two cars, one motorbike, and 740 ATM cards. Additionally, authorities blocked accounts holding over Rp 78 billion.
Beyond enforcement, the INP has conducted preventive measures, including 12,308 educational sessions in schools, campuses, and government offices.
“We’ve also requested the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block 76,722 gambling sites and content,” Chief Asep said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Acknowledging online gambling’s negative impact on welfare and family psychology, Chief Asep urged the public to report any illegal gambling activities.
