Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono has urged the Peruvian government to conduct a full investigation into the fatal shooting of Zetro Leonardo Purba, an Indonesian staff member of the Indonesian Embassy in Lima, on Monday night local time.
“We have conveyed to Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the police to investigate this case thoroughly,” the minister said in a statement released via his official Instagram account on Tuesday (2/9/2025).
Indonesia formally asked Peru to pursue the matter without delay, according to antaranews.com.
Minister Sugiono confirmed he has spoken directly with Indonesia’s Ambassador to Peru, Ricky Suhendar, and the victim’s spouse. The minister instructed the ambassador to closely monitor the investigation by Peruvian authorities and to provide assistance in the repatriation of Purba’s remains to Indonesia.
The case has drawn attention as Indonesia presses for accountability and justice over the death of its diplomatic staff member abroad.
