Indonesian VP Urge Parents to Keep Their Children Away from Election Campaigns

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin urge parents to not take their children to join the 2024 General Election for safety reasons. Ma’ruf Amin have asked people to understand the laws that prohibits children from any political activities, including election campaign. “And it is very dangerous for our children to go into a campaign parade. We obviously don’t want anything bad happen to our children right?” says Ma’ruf Amin on Thursday (1/25/2024). According to him, children who have not yet understand politics are vulnerable from getting traumas if getting involved in election campaign. “It is better for our children to avoid any political activities and election campaign,” adds Ma’ruf Amin. As was stated in Article 280 Paragraph (2) Letter k Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections campaign organizers during election campaign are prohibited to invite people who don’t have the right to vote. Moreover, in Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection have also stated that children are prohibited from getting involved with political activities.
