Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s dragon boat team won its first-ever gold medal at the World Games 2025, winning the open 2,000m event at Xinglong Lake Hubin Arena, Chengdu, China, on Saturday (9/8/2025).
“As we all hoped, this is the team’s first gold at the World Games and also the first for the Indonesian contingent. Tomorrow, we have five more finals,” said Budiman Setiawan, a Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Rowing Association (PB PODSI), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Red-and-White squad clocked 9 minutes 8.12 seconds, ahead of host China (9:19.22) and Spain (9:23.75). The victory came in a race held without qualification rounds. Head coach Suryadi praised the athletes’ focus and endurance in the grueling distance.
Indonesia fields six men and six women in both open and mixed events, aiming for more medals before the competition ends Sunday.
