Inp.polri.go.id - Ternate. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has posthumously promoted Bharatu Mardi Hadji to the rank of Bharaka Anumerta for his heroic service.
"This decision, effective from 3 February 2025, honors his dedication and sacrifice," said North Maluku Regional Police Head of Public Relations Bambang Suharyono in Ternate on Monday (3/2/2025).
Bhayangkara Satu (Bharatu) is a junior rank in the INP, equivalent to Private First Class in the military while Bhayangkara Kepala (Bharaka) is equivalent to Corporal.
Bharatu Mardi Hadji, a member of the North Maluku Water and Air Police, lost his life during a humanitarian mission to rescue two fishermen stranded in Gita Village waters on Sunday.
The posthumous promotion was granted following an official decree. Bharatu Mardi Hadji was laid to rest with full honors in Moya, Ternate. North Maluku Police also provided financial assistance to his family.
The incident occurred when a National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Ternate boat exploded during the operation, resulting in the deaths of Mardi Hadji and two Basarnas officers. A Metro TV journalist is still missing.
