Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Monday (3/2/2025) that Malaysian police arrested an Indonesian man on Saturday, in connection with a fatal shooting involving Indonesian citizens in Malaysia on 24 January 2025.

The arrested man entered Malaysia on a tourist visa and is being held for investigation. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has not received official consular notification and has sent a diplomatic note to the Malaysian government requesting clarification and consular access.

According to Judha Nugraha, the Foreign Ministry’s Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection, the Malaysian police have committed to a thorough, swift, and transparent investigation, including an inquiry into the officers of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) involved in the incident.

One of the two shooting victims is in stable condition after being transferred to a regular ward, while the other remains in critical care. Two other Indonesian citizens, previously reported injured, are recovering and providing statements to authorities.
