Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of the INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo accompanied President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to the National Press Day Commemoration on Tuesday (20/2/2024).
During the event, President Jokowi announced the signing of the Publisher Rights Presidential Regulation, delineating digital platforms' responsibilities.
"After prolonged deliberation, yesterday I signed the Presidential Regulation regarding digital platforms' role in enhancing quality journalism, known as the Publisher Rights Presidential Regulation," he declared.
He highlighted that the debate arose from differing aspirations among media outlets but was resolved through input from the Press Council.
"After achieving consensus, and under continuous pressure from the Press Council, I endorsed the regulation," he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the imperative for equitable collaboration between press companies and digital platforms, asserting, "We endeavor to ensure the longevity of the national media industry through impartial cooperation between press companies and digital platforms. Our aim is to establish a transparent framework for their collaboration."
President Jokowi cautioned about potential risks associated with implementing the regulation, particularly during the transition period, while assuring active government support for press companies.
"I urge the Minister of Communication and Informatics to prioritize government advertising spending for press companies. I've reiterated this stance multiple times, at least for immediate assistance. While this won't solve all challenges, it's a short-term measure as we collectively address the digital transformation," he concluded.
