Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed on Friday (26/9/2025) that police are investigating suspected mass food poisoning cases linked to the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in several regions.
“Police are conducting in-depth checks on the ground, one by one,” he told reporters, promising findings will be announced once investigations are complete.
The INPe’s Economic Crimes Directorate has been deployed to assist local units, including reviewing food safety procedures from production to distribution, according to antaranews.com.
Investigators have already inspected kitchens in Banggai Islands, Central Sulawesi, following reports that 335 students suffered stomach pain and nausea after eating MBG meals. Police examined facilities run by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to identify possible causes.
The police stressed their commitment to ensuring accountability and preventing similar incidents in the future.
