Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have denied claims circulating online that vehicles with expired license plates or inactive tax status are prohibited from refueling at gas stations.

“A few days ago, there was a hoax saying vehicles with expired plates couldn’t fill fuel at gas stations. That is not true, and in Jakarta there is no such restriction,” Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono told reporters on Friday (26/9/2025). “Drivers, including ride-hailing motorcyclists, are free to refuel. This issue was spread to create unrest.”

State-owned energy company PT Pertamina also labeled the viral message a hoax in a social media clarification earlier this week, stressing there is no time limit or restriction tied to vehicle tax status, according to antaranews.com.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed it has not issued any policy related to such measures. Authorities urged the public to verify information through official Pertamina channels before sharing.
