inp.polri.go.id - Manggarai. The INP Chief's Assistant Operations Officer, Commissioner General Muhammad Fadil Imran, went to the earthquake-affected communities in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to ensure swift response and that community needs are met.
Fadil was accompanied by the Vice Chief of NTT Regional Police Vice Chief, Brigadier General Daizal and other key police officials when visited the Barang Kolo Evacuation Post in Reok District.
In his visit, Fadil and entourage were giving 2,500 aid packages and delivering more emergency tents, along with two units of Starlink to support public service.
Each food package contains 5 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of sugar, instant noodles, tea bags, soy sauce, biscuits, and cooking oil.
This assistance complements the support already distributed to various posts, including tents, tarpaulins, generators, food and beverages, and medical assistance.
Manggarai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Levi Defriansyah, emphasized that the police are working to ensure that the community does not face the disaster alone.
"We assure you that you are not alone. We are here at each post, assisting the evacuations, distributing aids, setting up emergency tents, providing health services, and maintaining security. We are also recording the needs of the community on the ground and coordinating for immediate action," said Levi.
According to the data conveyed by Levi, there are 163 victims confirmed with 27 of them dead, 32 suffering serious injuries, and the other 104 only suffering minor injuries.
He also stated that there are already 45 evacuation posts established across the district with the total refugees of 13,381.
Levi stated that there are several challenges at the field such as how wide the affected are are, the numerous evacuation points, different needs of logistics, and the ever-changing data.
"The challenges are significant. Evacuation points are spread across 45 locations, with different needs at each post, while data on the ground is constantly changing. Therefore, coordination is essential. When a post needs something, we must know immediately and find a solution together," said Levi.
Amidst this situation, police personnel are also conducting patrols to maintain security and prevent potential disturbances to public order and security.
"In disaster situations, people need assistance and a sense of security. So we're not only delivering aid, but also ensuring that conditions in the evacuation centers remain safe. Personnel will remain on the ground," Levi emphasized.
