Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The National Police (INP) has urged the Jakartans to respect order and follow regulations during the Pesta Rakyat celebrations at the National Monument (Monas) square on Sunday, marking Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day.

“Of course, the activities will be carried out in the same way as in previous years. We hope the public can commemorate 17 August at Monas in the best way possible,” said INP Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, on Saturday (16/8/2025).

The INP, together with Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, has deployed nearly 7,000 joint personnel under “Operation Merdeka Jaya” to secure events from 15 to 17 August 2025, including the carnival, free culinary stalls, cultural performances, fireworks, and live entertainment.

Authorities assured that security measures will adapt to any situation, with personnel on standby to safeguard both the public and government events. The INP called on Jakartans to celebrate responsibly and support national unity during the Independence Day festivities.
