inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo inaugurated the Cilangkap Giri Kencana Reservoir as a flood mitigation measure in the capital.
"When I first became Governor, one of my main concerns was flooding, and now, we have built approximately eight reservoirs like this throughout Jakarta, because this directly addresses the problem of waterlogging in places like this," said Governor Pramono on Monday (1/12/2026).
However, during the inauguration, he requested that the Jakarta Water Resources Agency change the name of the reservoir. Governor Pramono wants the reservoir to be named "Batu Licin Reservoir" because Batu Licin is a local legend. He wants the reservoir to be restored to its historical significance.
While inspecting the reservoir, Governor Pramono admitted to receiving testimonials from the locals that flooding no longer occurs during rainfall.
"Previously, when it rained like this, there would be flooding everywhere. Now, with a reservoir capacity of 92,000 m² and a depth of 6 meters, there's no more flooding," said Governor Pramono.
The reservoir is also equipped with sports facilities, including a jogging track and a basketball court. A prayer room is also located within the reservoir area.
"This has had a very positive impact on the community. Moreover, this is in a densely populated area, so I hope that I can inaugurate the other seven (points) soon so they can be utilized," concluded Governor Pramono.
