inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Health stated that they are paying attention to cases of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTIs), diarrhea, and skin infections, which are the most common health problems found after the floods in Sekumur Village, Sekerak, Aceh Tamiang.
Dr. Yulia Dewi Irawati, a volunteer doctor from the Ministry of Health's Health Reserve Personnel Team (TCK), explained that post-flood environmental conditions, suboptimal sanitation, and overcrowding in evacuation centers contributed to these rising disease cases.
"In addition to infectious diseases, we are also paying special attention to vulnerable groups such as infants, toddlers, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, the elderly, people with disabilities, people with mental disorders (ODGJ), and patients with non-communicable diseases who require ongoing treatment," explained Dr. Yulia, Monday (1/12/2026).
The volunteer team ensures that patients with non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke, and asthma continue to receive treatment to prevent worsening of their health conditions during the emergency situation.
In addition to medical services, volunteers also provide community education on Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS), environmental sanitation monitoring, and efforts to prevent mental health disorders that could potentially arise after a disaster.
This initiative is part of efforts to prevent further health crises in flood-affected areas.
